Christy + Swen

Christy and I are old friends and I was so excited and humbled to shoot her wedding this fall. She’s an avid equestrian and held her ceremony and reception at Wide Awake Plantation out in the country in Hollywood, near where her horse is stabled. I recall her often begrudging the fact that she had to drive out there from town to frequently check up on her horse in inclement weather while we stayed inside where it was warm and there was red wine. But after making the drive out for her wedding I knew how special the area must be to her. The property is on the Stono River and has incredible views, grand oaks and a huge lawn that lends itself perfectly to a dance floor. The yummy cake was by D’lish, and catering was done by Dish and Design, but being the total multitasking overachiever that she is, Christy made the bouquets and boutonnieres herself. She incorporated a handful of Swen’s grandmother’s vintage buttons and used extra fabric from her mother’s wedding gown, which was newly altered for Christy to wear. The centerpieces were assembled by friends along with the photos and notecards that were strung around a tree trunk for guests to leave thoughts and wishes for the couple.

Congratulations Christy and Swen, I’m so happy for both of you!
